Ribosome Display is widely practised in the cloning, display, selection and optimisation of recombinant antibody fragments. Discerna has employed its Ribosome Display technology to clone and express genes encoding human antibody variable regions from either human B cells or human immunoglobulin transgenic mice. Human antibody fragments have been selected from ribosome display libraries and subsequently improved by molecular evolution.
Ribosome Display is also applicable to most peptides and proteins, including those (such as toxic moieties) that cannot be addressed by cell-based methodologies. Such applications are relevant for example to the selection of peptides as vaccine candidates, or the engineering of industrial enzyme function in white biotech. |
